The homosexual lifestyle is an unhealthy one
Zack Williams
Views presented on homosexuality are one-sided, and its portrayal as a completely healthy alternative lifestyle is inaccurate. Fact is, being gay is very hazardous to one's health. The movement has an increasingly bad influence upon children. Gay advocacy groups such as the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network blatantly teach sexual practices in their seminars set up for high school teenagers. Teenagers, as in 13 to 19! Groups also distribute questionnaires graphically asking about perceived sexual orientation to children as young as 6 and 7 years old. Don't take my word for it; look it up for yourself.
An Internet search will provide a gracious plenty of scientific articles that find homosexual activity harmful to mind and body. The International Journal of Epidemiology published a report stating that due to the rampant spreading of AIDS within the gay community, a homosexual male's life expectancy is 20 years shorter than that of the average heterosexual.
The Public Health Agency of Canada reported nearly 70 percent of their new HIV cases in males over the age of 15 as of June 2004 to be in homosexuals. These AIDS cases not only shorten lives, but also place a large and avoidable burden on medical services.
A study by the Centers for Disease Control in 2002 found that not only were syphilis cases in Los Angeles, San Francisco and London on the rise, but the majority of these new cases were among homosexual men. As Matt Foreman, Executive Director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, admitted "HIV is a gay disease."
You may ask why these diseases are so prevalent among a group that is 1 to 3 percent of the U.S. population. Polls conducted among gays, published by Bell and Weinberg in 1978, found that a vast majority of longtime homosexuals had many more than 100 lifetime sexual partners. Of that majority, more than 20 percent reported having 1,000 or more sexual partners in their lifetimes.
A study published in the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology reported homosexuals as being three times as likely to suffer from depression. A study conducted in New Zealand found that homosexuals were six times as likely to commit suicide.
Homosexuality is unhealthy. Not in the way that cigarettes and booze are unhealthy, but in the way that drinking a shot of turpentine every Wednesday afternoon while perusing real estate catalogues for houses near nuclear waste dumps is unhealthy.
Regardless of what you have heard, there is no proof that homosexuality is genetic. The "Gay Gene" is a myth. There have been various studies conducted that claimed discovery of genetic evidence, but most, if not all, have been criticized for having a poor sample group or being too small.
One of the founding principles of the constitution is popular sovereignty. This notion says that the government is for the people and by the people. In essence, the people rule. On the issue of gay marriage, the people have spoken. Many states have outright bans on gay marriage, which another principle of the constitution, federalism, allows.
Some of you will label me a "homophobe" because of my views, indicating fear, misunderstanding and ignorance. This term has been thrown around by gay rights activists for years to denigrate opposition.
My conviction that homosexuality is adversely affecting people's livelihood (and society in general) does not come from fear or ignorance.
Look at the evidence, most of which is published in scientific journals. Ask yourself, "Does this behavior need to be promoted, especially in schools?"
The homosexual agenda is built on a pack of lies. Homosexuality is not what is advertised through the media. A perusal through independent reports and documentaries will contest everything gay activists have been trumpeting as truth for years. I wouldn't have such contention with gay advocacy if they would not hide the ugly parts of what they are promoting, then turn around and silence the opposition.
When they say tolerance, they mean accept or pay the price. Schools are sued if they do not teach diversity in a positive light. I would never argue that gay people are not fired and harassed for being gay, but the discrimination isn't one-sided. People have been expelled from high schools for not curtailing to taxpayers-funded gay pride events.
Four Christians were arrested for trying to evangelize on a public sidewalk at a gay pride parade in Philadelphia. Parents nationwide have to legally battle schools who blatantly present pro-gay materials to their kids without any consent. "Intolerance will not be tolerated." Does anyone else see the hypocrisy in that statement?

First, there is no such thing as a "homosexual lifestyle."
Sexually promiscuous lifestyles are generally unhealthy (both mentally and physically), however homosexual does not equal sexually promiscuous, though conservatives do their best to dehumanize homosexuals and equate them only with sexual behavior. (Continued…)

I read both of the homosexuality related columns today and I think you both make good and correct points.
First, Luke's ability to cleverly expose the logical fallacies behind many anti-homosexual arguments serves him well. (Continued…)

Congratulations. You were able to slap some statistics on gay men (MEN, mind you, not bisexuals, lesbians, or transgendered folk) to form the premise of an argument that is inherently flawed. (Continued…)

What I think I love most about this story is that it's published in a paper from Mississippi. Just the other day it was reported that women's life spans in the deep south are on the decrease. (Continued…)

Polygamous relations are unhealthy. Homosexuality is not. Next time, recite all of Leviticus unless you're afraid what else is in there will loosen your credibility. (Continued…)

Also, talk like this is why some Homosexuals believe themselves to be deviant, often throwing away all sense of self-respect, leading to unhealthy lifestyles. (Continued…)

Its a shame Zack that you are presenting such a biased view of the gay community. The research you quoted from 1978 is flawed. as mentioned by another reader you have only focused on gay men. (Continued…)

Finally, two opposing views in the same newspaper. It seems to me that you went out of your way to choose to extremes though. Luke Davis is obviously gay and Zach Williams is obviously a nut for Jesus. (Continued…)

I dunno. As an African American male, I am part of a group that makes up 6-7% of the U. (Continued…)
